Ian J. Turpin has been a director since May 2001. He is a member of the Seton Family of Hospitals Board, the parent of which is Ascension Health, one of the largest not-for-profit hospital groups in the U.S. He is also a member of St. Edward’s University Board of Trustees. Previously, Ian served as a Board Member and Chair of the Investment Committee for the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center (now part of the University of Texas at Austin).
Since 1992, he has served as President and Director of LBJ Family Wealth Advisors and various companies affiliated with the family of the late president of the U.S., Lyndon B. Johnson, which were involved in radio, real estate, private equity investments and managing diversified investment portfolios. Prior to moving to Texas in 1992 from Toronto, Ian had a 20-year career as an international private banking executive with two of Canada’s most prominent banks, both in Canada and in offshore financial centers. The focus of his work was asset protection services and investments for offshore clients. While working in the Bahamas for an affiliate of Royal Bank of Canada, Ian taught courses for the U.K. Institute of Bankers in Nassau.
Born in Scotland, Ian was educated in England where he received a master’s degree in International Business from the University of Bradford, Yorkshire, England. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (CPA equivalent).
Ian is a Registered Investment Advisory Representative with the Texas State Securities Board (2005).
