Mark joined the Texas Capital Bank team in 2001 as Regional President, and in 2009, was promoted to Regional Chairman. In 2014, he was named Vice Chairman of Texas Capital Bank and is responsible for several bank-wide initiatives as well as oversight of its Builder Finance Group, which serves the top home builders across the nation. Johnson will continue to reside in San Antonio and will remain actively involved in the bank’s efforts in that community.

Mark began his career in 1968 at Texas Commerce Bank in Houston. In 1975, he moved to National Bancshares Corporation of Texas in San Antonio where he rose to the post of President and Chief Operating Officer and Director. In 1994, he joined Texas Bancshares, Inc. and First National Bank of South Texas in the posts of Chairman, President and Director.

Mark received his B.B.A. in Finance/Banking from Texas Tech University.

Mark has a long record of community service, with a leadership role in numerous nonprofit organizations. He is a Past President of the Alamo Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, earning the Silver Beaver Award, Past Director of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Past Chairman of San Antonio CAN! High School (a charter school for at-risk youth), and Past Chairman of the Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business Advisory Council. Along with many other civic organizations, Mark is currently a Trustee of Southwest Research Institute, a Life Member and Director Emeritus of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, a Director of the San Antonio Zoological Society, a Director of the Texas Business Hall of Fame, a Board Trustee of the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, and a Director of AugustHeart Foundation. Mark continues to enjoy ranching, golfing and spending time with his family.
