John Hudgens serves as Chief Risk Officer and Chief Credit Officer for Texas Capital Bank and its affiliates. As Chief Risk Officer and Chairman of the Risk Management Committee, Hudgens directs the Company’s oversight and management of applicable business risks from an enterprise perspective. As Chief Credit Officer, Hudgens directs a team of managers responsible for credit underwriting and approval of all credit exposures, individually serving as the Bank’s senior credit executive. Other duties include oversight of business units responsible for reserve methodology and application, loan portfolio concentration management, problem asset administration, board and executive reporting of credit metrics, regulatory interface for credit and compliance issues, physical security, fraud investigations, BSA/AML/OFAC compliance and corporate compliance.
Hudgens joined the Bank in 1999 as Chief Credit Officer after having started his banking career 20 years earlier in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. His experience includes management roles in credit administration, corporate and correspondent banking, commercial credit underwriting, and problem loan administration.
Hudgens holds a master’s of business administration in finance and accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in the business school’s honors program. He also graduated from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
